The policeman who died after attending a domestic incident has been named as Pc Chris Roberts, a
47-year-old father-of-three.
Pc Roberts, who worked with a 24-hour response team based at Wembley, north London, joined the
Metropolitan Police in 1983 and Scotland Yard said he had dedicated his career to being a uniformed
constable.
Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said: "I am deeply saddened by the death of one of my officers -
a father of three - while on duty and my thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues,
especially at this time of year."
The officer died after being called to a home in Brinkburn Gardens, Wembley, at around 5.45pm on
Wednesday.
A man in his 30s was arrested at the address for assaulting a police officer. It is understood that
following the alleged assault, another officer collapsed and died outside the house.
Scotland Yard confirmed that the officer who died "was involved in effecting the arrest".
The arrested man was later detained on suspicion of murder and is now in custody.
Chris, I am sorry Hannah, Peter and I couldn't attend the Memorial Service. I do hope your Mum and Louise attended as I sent them the children and my tickets.
In my own way I can't stop thinking about you and reliving what has happened. God, I miss you more than words can say! From me to you, I love you too! xxx
National Police Memorial 2009Today
I attended the National police Memorial Service. It is the first one I have attended and I felt most honoured to be there.
Today I thought about you and all those fallen officers who honour the word 'hero'.
RIP - We will remember you . . . . x
A great Man Remembered
His funeral was a Testament to his good character and nature. I was proud and privileged to have worked with him. It was a beautiful service with a Guard of Honour lining the route into the grounds.
He was remembered with great eloquence by his old friend Graham during the eulogy and he brought a smile to everyone's face with his recollection of numerous stories and memories.
Chris will be greatly missed- but always fondly thought of.
My thoughts go out to his family.
I don't know what to say, but sorry
to the family. Please be strong, Chris will always be in our hearts
..rest in peace. The latest news is he passed away from a heart condition whilst making the arrest. Thinking of his family at this sad time.
My thoughts and prayers are with Chris and his family. No matter how he died he still leaves a grieving family and friends. My brother was a serving police officer when he died,September 2006. We love and miss him every single day. God Bless you Chris. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
No words will help at this very sad time but to the family I say 'be Proud be very Proud'. As a mother of two Police officers I grieve with you but, take consolation in the fact that it takes a very special and courageous kind of person to put other peoples safety before their own in this unfair world. God Bless you all at this dreadful time.
